Football Gershkovich believes in Russian national team

Immediately after the draws principles were adopted in Pusan for the World Championship-2000 finals SE-correspondent contacted Russian interested parties

Mikhail Gershkovich, chief coach of the Russian national team:

Many people believe Argentina or France to be favorites of the championship and I agree to that. But there is nothing bad in French team being the seeded team of our group. Thus we will avoid other European teams that are stronger than the others. I'm not referring to Argentina and Brazil of course.

Among the weakest seeded teams there are Japan and Korea. But they will be playing on their ground, and therefore are ready to do their best. Just remember the before last championship in the USA, where it was for the patriotic spirit that they have left the group.

But I don't see the necessity to think over it now. I'm relying entirely on the fortune, because I'm sure - our team can enter any stage being in any group.
