As the assistant of RJF president was appointed 51-year old vice-president of the federation Vladimir Kaplin, who until 1997 was working as the chief coach of national team. In the Olympic years 1992 and 1996 he contributed to the success of the CIS team in Barselona (two golden medals) and failure of Russian judoists in Atlanta (no medals). |

The selection for the Russian championships will from now on be held not in zone tournaments, but in federal districts championships. The situation is hardest in Privolzhsky district which covers 18 territories. To compare: Ural district covers only 6 territories. |
