Judo. Ukrain wins junior Europe championship for the first time

Ukrainian national team did well on the junior Europe championship, that ended in Budapest yesterday. Young Ukrainian judoists surpassed on the amount of medals Russian team, which got the second place, and recognized European judo leaders - Germany, France and Holland, says SE-Internet correspondent Boris TITOV.

Russian appearance in the Hungary was also very successful. Irina Goremikina (Khanti-Mansijsk) and Alexander Burilev (Perm) won bronze medals on the final day of the championship. On the whole our juniors won 6 medals, among them two golden ones, which is a great step forward comparing to the last year's result - four bronze medals.

The prizes were won by the representatives of 24 countries. Belorussian sportsmen are in the top eight - the progress made by the former soviet republics is manifest. To compare: on the last Old World Championship Ukraine was the 17th, Russia - 15th and Belorussia - 12th.
