Detroit Red Wings centerforward Sergei Fedorov will play for the Russian hockey team in the Olympics in Salt Lake City if he is healthy, said Viacheslav Fetisov, the chief coach of the Russian team.

"I spoke to Sergey and he said he is getting ready," Fetisov said. "He said the only problem he's got right now is some injuries. Thus if he feels ready for the Olympics, he'll join the team. It's interesting that the conversation between Fedorov and Fetisov coincided with the second match of Detroit and New Jersey.
