Semifinalists on the FIDE world chess championship currently held in Moscow are determined. Russia is represented by Peter Svidler only, who defeated Boris Gelfand. Ukrainian chess school reached great success - among four semifinalists there are two Ukrainians - Ruslan Ponomarev (who defeated Evgeniy Bareev) and Vassily Ivanchuk. The fourth player who entered the list is Viswanathan Anand who is confident in his victory. |
