Judo Javara-Neva hardly entered semifinals of Russian President’s Cup

Last year's winner of the Russian President's Cup was on the verge of losing quarterfinals to well-balanced Iranian national team, SE-Internet correspondent Boris TITOV reports.

Before fighting with Russians Iranian team defeated Belorussians, who lacked their leader this time - heavyweighter Ruslan Sharapov. Iran, which had World champion-2000 Arashem Miresmaeli, won 5:2. Russia-2 was defeated by Japan. A very bright show performed Garik Aivasyan (Russian champion-2001) against vice champion-2001 Jusuki Kanamuru. It took Aivasyan seconds to win over the opponent.

Japan entered quarterfinals and defeated Ukraine easily (6:1).

Russian-1 (Javara-Neva) surrendered to Iranians 0:2 after two rounds of the starting match. The third round won Vitally Makarov - 2:1, but Alexey Shershnev didn't manage to sustain the success - 1:3.

The decisive point was won by twice champion Alexander Mikhailin. He didn't get points in the fight with bronze winner Makhmud Miran. Referees disqualified both and appointed additional time. Mikhailin were more active and won 4:3. Javara-Neva entered semifinals where it is to play against Korean team. The other semifinals pair - Japan vs France.
